My family and I live in the Birmingham, Alabama area in what most would call a zoo, a rotating cast of animals that has long since exceeded any reasonable definition of a household, and enough outdoor cooking equipment to constitute a problem, until and unless it's feeding you.
I work in technology. I have for a long time. This site is not about that, except for the occasional sharp take in the unlikely event that I have something worth saying that doesn't get me out over my skis with my employer.
Magic City Burn exists for the things worth doing with intention. Fire and smoke: serious BBQ on a kamado, a pellet grill, and a flat top that has earned its place, and perhaps in an effort to relive my glory days as a cigar lifestyle podcast host, you might see occasional cigar worth sitting with. Gear that has a reason to exist and a story behind why I own it. Music worth showing up for. The occasional opinion, delivered without apology.
I am not a food blogger. I am not an influencer. I am not trying to sell you anything. I am a person who takes cooking, photography, and live music seriously.
Posts here are infrequent by design and may be disorganized because I am me. Everything on this site is something I actually wanted to share.
